Summary

Reacher never backs down from a problem。

And he's about to find a big one, on a deserted road in Arizona, where a car has crashed into the only tree for miles around。

Minutes later, Reacher is heading into town。 To introduce himself to the shadowy crew who made it happen。

Their boss has a terrifying reputation and the stakes are high。 Just to get in and meet him, Reacher is going to have to achieve the impossible。

To get answers will be even harder。 There are people in this hostile, empty place who would rather die, than reveal their secrets。

But then, if Reacher is coming after you, you might be better off dead。

Mike Glaser

Closer to 3 1/2 stars。 Starts off slowly but really takes off at the end with some nice twists。 It appears that they have stopped the aging process for Mr。 Reacher as he should be pushing sixty by now。

Jeremy Thompson

Not the best Reacher book by a way。Thinnish plot, forgettable characters, some superfluous descriptive passages and a muddleddenouement。 Putdownable。

Harry

It’s just not the same Jack Reacher。

Jim Steiner

Unfortunately not as good as previous books。 May becoming a bit tired

Dan Banana

Same as all the rest, ass kicking, drama, killing, crime and eating when you can。 Another thoroughly enjoyable book featuring the greatest character of all time。

Cecilia Fraser

Both my husband and I have read all of the Jack Reacher books and really enjoyed them - we always looked forward to the next one。 But this last one was a dud。 Actually, I had the same feeling about the one just before this one but I wasn't about to give up。 I don't think I'll be reading another one。 Both my husband and I have read all of the Jack Reacher books and really enjoyed them - we always looked forward to the next one。 But this last one was a dud。 Actually, I had the same feeling about the one just before this one but I wasn't about to give up。 I don't think I'll be reading another one。 。。。more

A fast-paced, can't-put-it-down thriller that I blew through because it was so good。 Jack is back and once again gets embroiled in a tangled plot that leads to a high body count of bad guys in his wake。 A fast-paced, can't-put-it-down thriller that I blew through because it was so good。 Jack is back and once again gets embroiled in a tangled plot that leads to a high body count of bad guys in his wake。 。。。more

Following two subpar entries into the series, the latest Reacher book was a return to form。 Gone was the political nonsense from the author(s) and gone were the jarring, unnecessary sex scenes。 I can only speak for myself, but what I want from a Reacher book is a victim with an interesting backstory leading Jack into a conflict with a mysterious and ruthless villain。 "Better off Dead" definitely delivered on that front, and then some! The action in this book was as good as that of any Reacher bo Following two subpar entries into the series, the latest Reacher book was a return to form。 Gone was the political nonsense from the author(s) and gone were the jarring, unnecessary sex scenes。 I can only speak for myself, but what I want from a Reacher book is a victim with an interesting backstory leading Jack into a conflict with a mysterious and ruthless villain。 "Better off Dead" definitely delivered on that front, and then some! Wrong voice for Reacher

Abbie Watters

I quit before I finished this book。 It was not up to the standard I expected from Lee Child。

Donald Weiss

His books get worse each yearThey were wonderful in the beginning Reacher is a dynamic chactecter but in the last few books he’s become very bland and unrecognizable。 It seems in co- authoring with his brother Reacher has lost his voice。 I forced myself to finish this poorly written book。

Brian Gilbert

Have read all the Reacher books, this one was poor, pretty contrived。 To many dead bodies, and how is it that the bad guys never get the chance to shoot him before he takes 3 or 4 of them out?

Kris Kimura

So soNot sure why I keep buying Reacher books。 Habit I guess。Average book and read, predictable at the end from early on。

Kelly Barr

Good but differentNot the Lee Child I’ve loved through all of his books, but still a good story。 The voice changed a bit。 Needs to develop to what Lee had。

Patrick McNerney

One of the best Jack Reacher novels。 Excellent story and plot。 Lots of action and twists and turns。

Ben Baker

Reacher might be on his last leg after reading this book。 Suggestion to Lee Child’s。 Either write the book yourself or stop the series。 Mike Child’s does now do the job。

Gail Yarborough

I've read every Jack Reacher book。 I'm not sure I'll read another。 This was such a weak and silly story, with no real character development, and it was far-fetched as well。 More far-fetched than any other Reacher story。 And the ending? Totally flat。 I may give the author(s) one more go, but at present, I'm moving on to other authors and more in-depth stories。 Really disappointing。 I've read every Jack Reacher book。 I'm not sure I'll read another。 This was such a weak and silly story, with no real character development, and it was far-fetched as well。 More far-fetched than any other Reacher story。 And the ending? Didn't enjoy it 5% as much as earlier books。 It may be that the writing team doesn't mesh。 Reacher's tone and narration were off-target。 Final 8 chapters were good, but thin - might be that Lee Child has run out of gas, and Andrew should stop polluting the Reacher character。 Didn't enjoy it 5% as much as earlier books。 It may be that the writing team doesn't mesh。 Reacher's tone and narration were off-target。 Final 8 chapters were good, but thin - might be that Lee Child has run out of gas, and Andrew should stop polluting the Reacher character。 。。。more

A little different feel, but still Reacher I've read every one, and I do admit that Lee's brother writes a little differently。 I have to think Lee has the final edit on any work though。 It's worth reading。 A little different feel, but still Reacher I've read every one, and I do admit that Lee's brother writes a little differently。 I have to think Lee has the final edit on any work though。 It's worth reading。 。。。more

Not YetFull of action and suspense, just what you would expect from a Lee Child novel。 Buy this nook now for an entertaining read。。

Jack Hardy

Reacher at his bestExcellent read! Action。 Mystery Great characters ! And Reacher at his best - simple isn’t it so be sure to enjoy!

Linda

。This time Reacher gets involved with trying to locate the missing brother of an FBI agent, and a possible dirty bomb。Fast paced, heart stopping read

Kate

Slightly different voiceThe brothers have a very slightly different voice to each other。 I liked being in Reacher’s head as an all powerful but somehow also gentle giant。 However, still enjoyable and a great plot just a more male voice writing it。

Glenn Halliday

The last 2 Reacher books are quite a disappointment。 I guess with a new writer this is the way of the future so I only read them if I can get them through the library。 These reads are not worth spending money on

Tom Stadler

The Jack Reacher books are a guilty pleasure, if you buy into the whole idea of the superman loner who is alway willing to help out。 This isn't one of the best in the series but keep me going though I found the ending somewhat muddy。 The Jack Reacher books are a guilty pleasure, if you buy into the whole idea of the superman loner who is alway willing to help out。 This isn't one of the best in the series but keep me going though I found the ending somewhat muddy。 。。。more

Jack Reacher is back。Lee Child seems to have taken an advisory role to the writing, his brother Andrew is now taking over。 Less action, less sexual tension, still has the same flavor as previous books in the series。 Reacher is walking a long lonely stretch of road, and approaches a small border town。 This sleepy little town hides quite a few big secrets。 Reacher is victim to mistaken identity and might fight his way out。

Linda

I keep thinking I am going to tire of Jack, but these stories continue to draw me in from the get-go。

My last Reacher book! Andrew Child is a 1-star writer。 I've read every one that Lee Child has written but this was sad to read。 It was a great run! Thanks, Lee。Steve My last Reacher book!
